Located inside Harpa (Conference and Concert hall), Epal downtown is one of the three Epal stores in Reykjavik.
Almost four decades ago a young furniture designer returned to Iceland after completing his studies in Denmark. This was Eyjólfur Pálsson, the founder of EPAL.
Soon after his return it became clear that he could not realize his design objectives because of the lack of available materials in Iceland. Therefore he set out to source, import and sell quality design.
From the beginning EPAL’s main objective has been to improve appreciation for design and quality products. This has been accomplished by the introduction of renowned designers from Scandinavia and other parts of the world.
Over the past four decades EPAL has been a great supporter of Icelandic designers in the production and promotion of their designs as well as being a driving force in bringing design and design awareness to Iceland.
Today there are three EPAL stores in Iceland; the flagship store in Reykjavík, at Leif Eiriksson International Airport in Keflavík and in Harpa - the striking conference and music center by the old harbor in Reykjavík – where design objects are displayed in fitting surroundings.
